Realtor Spotlight: Kate Rooney
When we asked REALTOR® Kate Rooney of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty in Newport, Rhode Island what she adores about where she lives and works, this is what she had to say.
Q: What do you love about living and working here?
A: I was born and raised on Aquidneck Island, and decided to settle here with my family. Many local friends have also returned to raise their families after being away for schools and jobs. Our choice to do so is a great testament to the island’s beauty and amenities. During the winter and the shoulder seasons, I love to run near the ocean, through the vineyards, and along our nature trails. I also love the sun, the beaches and the salt air. The year-round sights, sounds and smells are so relaxing and therapeutic. It is fantastic to have the choice of so many different beaches to visit on a summer weekend.
Q: How about your passion for real estate?
A: In terms of real estate, I love that Newport continues to reinvigorate its charm, especially in the real estate market of the past few years. Personally, I love the ‘thrill of the hunt’ to find the perfect home for my clients. I am so happy to have this incredible platform to help clients looking at Newport County learn what makes my home such a wonderful place to live.

Kate was born in Newport and raised in Middletown, Rhode Island. She graduated from Portsmouth Abbey School and the University of Vermont with a Degree in Business Administration & Marketing. Kate ventured to San Francisco where she lived for several years working for Hines, an international real estate investment firm. Longing to return to her roots, she transitioned back to East Coast living with her husband, son and daughter.
