Local Fitness Studios Offering Virtual Classes
Taking care of your mind and body should always be a top priority when it comes to ensuring that you’re living your best life, but in these trying times, it’s more important than ever. If you’re beginning to feel trapped and stagnant as you adjust to working from home, here are several local fitness studios offering virtual classes to help keep your mind sharp and your body healthy from your home office.
Whether or not you currently attend a yoga class or have tried from home, I’m sure you’re familiar with the practice. A blend of stretching for the body and meditation for the mind, yoga can boost your mental and physical fitness by improving sleep, busting stress, strengthening your heart, and more. MEND
This newly opened boutique yoga studio nestled next to Equality Park offers classes designed to strengthen mind and body. This week, they took their classes digital so you can access them from home - because social distancing. All you need is a mat, a towel, and hand weights (if you've got 'em). Members can join the class as usual, while newcomers and those without a membership are asked to consider making a donation via Venmo (@mend_yoga).

INNERLIGHT CENTER FOR YOGA & MEDITATION
Innerlight Center for Yoga & Meditation, based in Middletown, has transitioned all their upcoming classes online. Classes are hosted through Zoom Video and include all levels yoga, subtle yoga for restoration and resilience and more.
How to join: Go to the classes tab at innerlightyoga.com, sign up for the online class and keep an eye out for for an email 15 minutes prior to the start of class.

NEWPORT POWER YOGA
This yoga studio located on William Street overlooking Bellevue Avenue offers a vigorous and challenging style of yoga designed to build strength, balance and flexibility. In light of the recent health crisis, the studio has transitioned their classes for virtual participation using Zoom Video. Anyone purchasing a 10-class pass while the studio in closed will receive an additional 5 free classes.

Between completing your job-related tasks, trying to absorb (or avoid) the non-stop news cycle, and potentially keeping your child (or children) busy, working from home can be stressful; give your mind a rest with a nap, listening to some of your favorite music, reading from a magazine or book, or even taking a relaxing shower or bath. Studies show that even just a minute of deep breathing can relieve stress.
These fitness studios below took their classes and turned them digital - easily accessible from your home and social-distancing approved.
STUDIO BARRE NEWPORT
This week, Studio Barre took their Quick Tuck 45-minutes classes, designed to build core strength and improve posture, virtual. If you're a current member, send an email to newport@studiobarre.com requesting a link and personal password to access the virtual studio. If you're a newcomer, send an email to request a virtual membership.

PULSE NEWPORT & BELLEVUE BARRE
Join Pulse Newport for a virtual sweat class by using Zoom Video. While their doors are closed, the gym is also loaning out weights to their members and campers.

SALT CYCLE STUDIO
Salt Cycle Studio in Tiverton rented out their spin bikes to riders and is bringing anyone with a bike at home their favorite classes on-demand.

LIVE WELL WITH JANELLE
Janelle Laurito is a Rhode Island based, self-proclaimed Mindset Shifter and Change Agent. In other words, she's a godsend during these times of anxiety and uncertainty. Janelle helps women overcome their life stressors by empowering them to adopt simple daily self-care practices through mindfulness, movement, and nourishment. Join her over the next few weeks as she streams live flows and meditations on her Instagram feed and Instagram live to help stay calm, centered and connected.

NOVEMBER PROJECT NEWPORT
November Project™ is a free fitness movement born in Boston as a way to stay in shape during cold New England months. Now present in multiple cities around the world (including Newport!), the movement uses a sense of accountability to motivate people of all ages, shapes, and fitness levels to get moving. They have closed until further notice and transitioned all classes to online using Zoom Video.

BULL FROG FIT
The personal training team at Bull Frog Fit in Portsmouth is offering workouts on their IGTV. Targeted towards total body fitness, exercises can be completed with your own body weight.
