Significant Newport Sale: 'Beaulieu'

Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty is pleased to announce a noteworthy sale in Newport, RI by Kara Malkovich as the buyer's representative. April 1st, 2020 Malkovich closed on one of Newport's oldest mansions, 'Beaulieu,' located at 614 Bellevue Avenue, sold off-market for $12,264,000.

As one of Newport's oldest mansions, 'Beaulieu,' was built in 1859 by New York architect Calvert Vaux, who also designed the bridges in New York's Central Park. Designed to resemble a French château in the Second Empire style, interior designer Valerian Rybar was responsible for the timeless interiors.  The Gilded Age seasonal “cottage” (approx. 14,500 sf) has sixteen bedrooms, library, billiard room, and wide surrounding veranda overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Cliff Walk. There is also a delightful three-bedroom carriage house (approx. 2,000 sf) on this splendid eight-acre estate.  It was given the name Beaulieu, which means "beautiful place," a perfectly suited name indeed.
